Backways of Butte’s Historic Uptown
I keep returning to Butte as a subject of visual research regarding decay. Starting in 2004, time has presented a remarkable opportunity to witness the brick-by-brick decay of this once-booming mining city. While the front streets are well-preserved, it’s the back alleys that show how time is taking a toll on the many buildings there. This is the subject of visual research that I am presently conducting to determine how quickly this city’s backways and bricks are decaying.
