Health Quality Alberta
I was the brand strategist and designer for this project which repositioned the Health Quality Council of Alberta to Health Quality Alberta. The project enabled me to create a vision for the new brand that I articulated across all touchpoints with people in Alberta.
In 2023, the Health Quality Council of Alberta undertook a significant rebranding initiative, emerging as Health Quality Alberta—a name and identity that more clearly communicates its purpose, values, and role in shaping a healthier future for all Albertans.
The transition to Health Quality Alberta reflects a strategic evolution from a council-focused entity to a more accessible, action-oriented public agency dedicated to improving healthcare quality, safety, and performance across the province. While maintaining its core mandate of independent research, system monitoring, and public reporting, the rebrand strengthens the organization’s connection to the people it serves—patients, families, care providers, and health system leaders.
The rebranding process included the development of a refreshed visual identity, streamlined language, and updated messaging that emphasizes clarity, impact, and collaboration. The new name, Health Quality Alberta, offers a direct and inclusive expression of the agency’s mission: to advance quality care that is informed by evidence, driven by innovation, and rooted in the experiences of Albertans.
More than a change in name, the rebrand positions Health Quality Alberta as a trusted partner and catalyst for change—supporting a more responsive, transparent, and people-centered healthcare system. It underscores the organization’s enduring commitment to continuous improvement and to elevating the quality of care across Alberta’s diverse communities.
