Landon MacKenzie – Nervous Centre Book

Landon Mackenzie is a senior Canadian artist who has exhibited nationally as well as in Europe, Asia and the United States. She is widely admired for her large-format paintings that are layered over time, referencing her research and personal experiences with geography, history and geometry. Her intuitive use of colour, mark-making and process are defining characteristics of her practice.

Esker Foundation’s first solo exhibition, Landon Mackenzie: Nervous Centre presented a compelling survey of Mackenzie’s work. It highlights the artist’s abstracted study of cartography to map out human systems of movement, thought, and convergence. The exhibition presents rarely seen drawings, a selection of her “suitcase paintings”, and several of her better-known, large-scale cinematic canvases. This was a great book to design and working with Landon was great. Such a lovely person.
